We recently attended the 2017 James Hardie Contractor Summit in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 400 people from across the country gathered to hear from industry leaders and network with other contractors. There were presentations on a variety of topics during the event such as social media. James Hardie CMO Sean Gadd also spoke about James Hardie’s great building products. Plus we got to enjoy some warm weather, Top Golf, and western BBQ! Now we are back and ready to put some of the new insights we gained into action.
Keenan Homes has recently brought on an intern through the Nazareth Academy BOOST Internship Program. As Nazareth alumni, (Patrick ’93 and Margaret ’95) we are thrilled to support our Alma Mater and benefit from the hard work of our Nazareth family!
A senior and a flautist, Lauren Nortier is quite busy to say the least. During her time at Nazareth Academy, she has participated in marching band, as well as wind ensemble, SMILE, and Mu Alpha Theta. Recently. She has also joined The National Honors Society and The National English Honors Society. In addition to extra-curricular activities, Lauren enjoys her time with the teachers at Nazareth Academy who are always willing to help.
“They really care about their students and try to help them reach their goals,” she explains. Lauren also feels that Nazareth Academy has given her a sense of family ever since freshman year. “I know that getting involved with the band my freshman year helped tremendously with meeting new people and making friends.” When she is not interning at Keenan Homes, teaching at Gemini Gymnastics, or active in her parish, you can find Lauren sketching or painting. “I love sitting down at my desk or outside with a notebook and pencils, or canvas and paints to try to come up with something new.”
Lauren explains the multitude of reasons for choosing Keenan Homes as her selected internship. “When looking at the list of possible companies to intern with, Keenan Homes definitely jumped out at me.” It was the perfect blend of creativity, sales and marketing that caught Lauren’s attention. As an aspiring Industrial Designer, it was definitely appealing. She was surprised to find out that Keenan Homes was more involved than your typical roofing and solar company. “I was amazed to see the many services they offer.” Another reason for Lauren’s choice are the many happy customers who have used Keenan Homes. “I love the ‘I’m Happy’ photos that they take with every client,” she says; adding “after seeing that, how could I not want to choose Keenan Homes.”
Lauren is passionate about design so it comes as no surprise that she plans to enroll in a
four-year university. Currently, she is looking into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue University, and Iowa State University. She plans on majoring in Industrial Design and minoring in Italian. Personally, Lauren is very passionate about Italian. She has been in Italian classes since freshman year and has grown to love it. “I actually had the ability to take a class trip to Italy this year, and had the time of my life.” On the trip, she was able to meet up with some relatives and embrace the Italian culture. After she returned, she definitely knew that she wanted to continue with Italian so she could go back again.
With a positive personality and a passion for design, we are very excited to have Lauren on the team as an intern!
